Trying to keep up!

Updated: May 3, 2019

Blogging is hard when you have 5 jobs… But honestly it is one of my favorite things to do, and I will happily take a break every once in a while to assess what I have experienced and learned from those experiences. And I love to go back and see where I was when I wrote something because I always seem to have evolved since I wrote whatever article I am reading, even it was from a week ago.

I am so happy to be evolving as a person, and hope that the people around me continue to challenge me and encourage me to grow. I am happy to know every person in my life for whatever lesson they have to teach me, and have learned to be grateful even for the bad experiences now.

If you knew me in High School, you wouldn’t even recognize me today. If you knew me 5 years ago you would probably not recognize me either, it happens all the time. The biggest difference between now and then is that I actually love myself for who I am, and have a set of values and principles that guide me down the path that best suits me. I’ve said this before and I will say it again, that if you want to know yourself you need to do a couple things ~ and not necessarily in this order:

1. Change your environment (people and place): The people around us have expectations as to who we are and how we will act; therefore in order to really express who we want to be we must temporarily remove ourselves from the people we see in our daily lives, or the people around us must be 100% on board with your new values and principles, and understand how to encourage that part of you.

2. Understand your own values and principles: I found out what I believed in by journaling, but you may already know what things are most important to you. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

~ Stay open minded.

~ Pick your most important values. Mine are honesty, empathy, adaptability, mindfulness, and freedom.

~ Choose a path. This is the most difficult to actualize, but once you decide your values you can at least decide if what you are currently doing is within those values and move forward from there.

~ Re-assess. Check in on yourself from time to time and make sure that you are staying along the path of your enlightenment.

Life is a beautiful thing if you make it. And every day you sit there wondering if you are capable of more is a day you might as well sleep through. Because once you wake up, you’ll realize how much you were missing in your subconscious state. I woke up from this state, stopped following, and am slowly realizing my own potential, and I will encourage anyone who wants to understand and grow themselves.

Nothing happens overnight. But everything can change in an instant. Wake yourself up.

Peace and Love,

William S.
